North Mountain Hiking

Okay so I hiked North Mountain again last night for the second time. Second time around wasn't any easier...but it wasn't as hot this time which I am very grateful for.
The trail only takes about 30mins. up and 30mins back down...and that is if you are out of shape and a beginner which is what I am.
The first 10 mins of the trail you are climbing up...and you have to climp rocks. Not rock climbing like you need equipment but its a rocky path that for me requires focus and concentration...especially on the way down. But after that little bit of uneven rocky path then it is paved the rest of the way up and it offers some very pretty views of which I took one pic.
Not to worry though I will be back there next week and will take pics of other views. I was very tired and it took a lot of effort to dig out my camera to take a pic.

Now AZ more specifically the valley boasts some die hard hikers despite being 100 and some damn degrees for a majority of the year. Some of the die hard hikers I observed last night.
One girl had to be very early 20's if she wasn't 18 or 19 and had a one year old or less with her. She made this baby climb up the uneven rock path...poor baby! They started a good 10-15 mins. before I did and I encountered them again on the paved pathway and the poor little baby was crying..and rightly so...her feet and legs must have been killing her.
Second die hards I encountered were 2 young girls again probably early 20's with a stroller and a baby in it. I mean full on stroller not the tiny little umbrella stroller...this stroller meant busines....even so it still wasn't a jogging stroller or anything. I mean really??? how the hell did you get that stroller up that rocky path???
My only answer for that is they must have went up the path from the other side which is all paved but takes way longer to hike.
The last lady I encountered was during my descent down the rocky pathway and she had a baby on her back. Impressive!!!
I on the other hand would not go hiking with my child until she is about 10 because my child ain't crazy she would be saying MOMMY CARRRY ME!!!.....I would be like HECKS no are you crazy???...you carry me.
Needless to say I can certainly do without hiking if I have no one to look after my child while I go.

  1. Personally, I'm having a real hard time understanding why all these people are bringing their babies up a dangerous hike like this. Aren't there any nice walking parks in AZ?
